Abstract

The objective of this paper is to analyze the stylized facts of the Argentine economy by studying dynamic correlations between the variables of interest between 1990 and 2007. The results are based on the application of the Hodrick and Prescott filter, with and without the implementation of the pre-whitening method. The results do not adjust in all cases to the prevailing theory on economic cycles, and although they differ in some cases from those reported by Kydland and Zarazaga (1997) in their analysis of the Argentine economy, no major qualitatively differences are found.
